Massachusetts Teachers Association Endorses Lancaster In Sixth District Race
SALEM, MA — The Massachusetts Teachers Association has endorsed Dr. Mariah Lancaster in the race for Massachusetts’ Sixth Congressional District, according to a campaign announcement.
The union, which represents more than 117,000 educators and school staff statewide, pointed to Lancaster’s support for public education and workers’ rights in announcing the endorsement.
“More than ever before, we need members of Congress who will staunchly defend public education and working families,” MTA President Max Page and Vice President Deb McCarthy said in a joint statement. They said Lancaster aligns with the union’s priorities, including equitable opportunities for students and respect for workers.
Lancaster said the endorsement reflects shared priorities around strengthening schools and expanding access to education.
“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and its 117,000 members,” Lancaster said in a statement.
A Massachusetts native and trained veterinarian, Lancaster has worked in federal policy roles in Washington, including at the State Department and in Congress, according to the campaign.
The Sixth District includes communities on the North Shore and in the Merrimack Valley, including Andover.
