Lancaster Calls for Abolishing ICE After Minneapolis Killing
SALEM, MA — Congressional candidate Mariah Lancaster, a veterinarian and former State Department civil servant, is calling for the abolition of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement following the killing of Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
In a video posted to social media, Lancaster accused ICE of bringing “violence and chaos” into communities and said the agency should be dismantled.
“This is why ICE must be abolished,” Lancaster said, arguing that the Department of Homeland Security is duplicative and that ICE has become a “rogue agency.”
Lancaster said agents involved in Good’s death must be held accountable and fully prosecuted, adding that the killing of American citizens cannot be ignored. The statement marks one of the strongest policy positions taken so far in the Democratic primary, further distinguishing Lancaster from other candidates in the field.
Lancaster, who lives in Salem, previously worked as a foreign affairs officer at the State Department and as a congressional staffer, and has framed their campaign around affordability, healthcare access, and structural reforms to federal government institutions.
