Keep Money in Our Pockets

“The affordability crisis isn't an accident:
it's the result of corporate monopolies, stagnant wages,
and decades of policies that put profits over people.
Congress must act now.” –Mariah

Housing is the biggest monthly expense for most families, and corporate landlords are driving rents skyhigh while the cost of groceries, utilities, and healthcare keep climbing.

I will address the root causes: corporate monopoly power, corrupt private interests,
and a tax code rigged to benefit billionaries.

To bring down costs, we must:

  • Enforce Anti-trust Law and End Monopolies

  • Invest in affordable housing, fully fund Section 8 vouchers,
and repeal the Faircloth Amendment to expand public housing

  • Require private equity and hedge funds to divest from single-family homes

  • Make rent tax-deductible and establish tax-free savings accounts for first-time buyers

  • Break up big agriculture and use our federal dollars to support family farms

  • Ban dynamic pricing for groceries, concert tickets, and airfare, and require all in-store items to have a physical price tag

  • Raise the Federal Minimum Wage to at least $25/hour, indexed to inflation and cost of living, and eliminate subminimum wages for tipped workers and workers with disabilities

  • Cap childcare costs at 7% of family income, invest in Universal Childcare, and increase FSA/HSA limits for dependent care

  • Pass a graduated wealth tax & raise the marginal tax rate on income >$100 million

  • Federally Legalize Marijuana and reinvest tax revenue in communities harmed by the “War on Drugs”
